Gold (Au) Pellets, 99.999% (5N) Purity, Evaporation Grade

ZHC LAB’s Gold (Au) Pellets are high-purity evaporation source material for thermal and electron-beam (e-beam) physical vapor deposition (PVD) of gold thin films. Each pellet is manufactured from 99.999% (5N) purity gold feedstock and precision-cut to φ3 mm × 3 mm (1/8 inch diameter × 1/8 inch length), the industry-standard pellet geometry compatible with most thermal boats, crucible liners, and e-beam pocket hearths. Sold by net weight (3 g per package; each package contains multiple pellets). Gold thin films deposited from these pellets exhibit excellent electrical conductivity, chemical inertness, oxidation resistance, and infrared reflectivity, making them widely used as contact electrodes, wire-bond pads, optical reflectors, and biocompatible surface coatings. Each lot ships with a Certificate of Analysis (COA) documenting purity verification by ICP-OES or GDMS.

COMMON APPLICATIONS: Thermal and e-beam evaporation of gold thin films for semiconductor metallization and wire-bond pad fabrication; deposition of electrodes and contact layers in MEMS, sensors, and microelectronic devices; optical coatings including infrared reflectors and mirrors; surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor substrates; biocompatible coatings for medical devices and biosensors; SEM sample preparation by gold sputter/evaporation coating; research-grade thin film studies in materials science, physics, and surface chemistry laboratories.

USAGE NOTES: Load one or more pellets into a clean tungsten boat, molybdenum boat, or e-beam crucible liner. For thermal evaporation, ramp source temperature gradually to avoid splashing; gold wets most refractory metal boats well. For e-beam evaporation, use a graphite or ceramic crucible liner to prevent alloying with the copper hearth. Recommended base pressure before deposition: ≤5 × 106 Torr. Store pellets in the original sealed container in a clean, dry environment. Gold is chemically inert and non-hygroscopic; no special atmosphere storage is required.
