3-Prong Lab Clamp, Single Adjust, Rubber-Tipped Jaws
ZHC LAB’s 3-Prong Lab Clamps provide secure, adjustable support for cylindrical glassware and equipment on laboratory retort stands. Three rubber-tipped jaws distribute clamping force evenly around the vessel, protecting glass surfaces from scratching while maintaining a firm, non-slip grip. A single central thumb screw controls all three jaws simultaneously for fast one-handed adjustment. The 8 mm diameter straight rod inserts into a standard bosshead clamp holder for attachment to any retort stand. Available in two sizes: the Small version (1-28 mm jaw opening) is suited for test tubes, narrow condensers, small columns, and thin-walled tubing; the Large version (1-85 mm jaw opening) accommodates round-bottom flasks, wide condensers, separatory funnels, and large-diameter vessels. Both versions feature chrome-plated alloy construction.
DIMENSIONAL SPECIFICATIONS:
Small (1-28 mm jaw opening): minimum jaw opening 1 mm, maximum 28 mm; fits vessels up to 28 mm OD; suitable for test tubes and narrow condensers; rod diameter 8 mm, rod length 125 mm; overall length 190 mm; material chrome-plated alloy with rubber-tipped jaws
Large (1-85 mm jaw opening): minimum jaw opening 1 mm, maximum 85 mm; fits vessels up to 85 mm OD; suitable for round-bottom flasks and large condensers; rod diameter 8 mm, rod length 160 mm; overall length 270 mm; net weight 177 g; material die-cast alloy, chrome-plated, rubber-tipped jaws
Rod compatibility: 8 mm rod inserts into standard bosshead clamp holder (bosshead sold separately)
COMMON APPLICATIONS: Large: supporting round-bottom flasks during heating, reflux, and distillation; holding condensers and separatory funnels on retort stands; securing large reaction vessels during stirring. Small: clamping test tubes, narrow condenser tubes, columns, and small-diameter glassware to support rods in synthetic and analytical chemistry setups.
USAGE NOTES: Select the clamp size based on the outer diameter of the vessel – the jaw opening must exceed the vessel OD to allow loading and removal. The Small clamp (max 28 mm jaw opening) is not suitable for standard round-bottom flasks; use the Large clamp for flasks. Tighten the thumb screw finger-firm only; overtightening may crack delicate glass. Both versions require a separate bosshead for attachment to a retort stand rod. Always support flask weight from below with a retort ring or heating block – the clamp provides lateral stability only.
